Chalkboard

There is something you all should know about me.  I love all things chalkboard.  I painted a small wall in my kitchen with chalkboard paint but since the wall was textured it was hard to write on.   We also have this long blank wall right next to the kitchen that needed something so I decided to make my own chalkboard.
If you go to Home Depot they sell 4' x 8' sheet of hard board for around $7.  I needed my piece to be 4' x 5'ish feet long so J cut it down to size.
I wanted it to look like a real chalkboard so I picked the traditional green school board color but you can get your chalkboard paint dyed to many different colors.
J attached it to the wall with toggle bolts.  I picked hardboard because it is light and smooth.  However I think because of those things it gets warped so it was ripply in the middle and did not hang flush on the wall.  To fix this problem we had some 1" x 2" boards left over from another project that I painted white and J made a frame for the chalkboard.

He then nailed it to the wall directly through the chalkboard.  That's it!

With the leftover hardboard I free handed a 'r' and cut it out with a jigsaw.  I spray painted it Chevy orange and hung it in our entryway.  The second thing you should know about me, I love monograms!
