Part 3, this is starting to drag on. Okay, so we finished the walls. I wanted a paneled wood wall look. I know, paneled wood, what is this 1975? Bear with me. I wanted to have the planks running horizontally and half way up the wall. You can buy beaded board in 4' x 8' sheets but the actual 'board' is only about 4 inches at the thickest and I wanted 6 inch boards. I went to Lowes where they sell 4' x 8' project wood for about $12 a sheet. The bead board is about $27 a sheet. You should have seen the Lowes employee when I brought over 5 sheets and asked them to be cut in 6" x 8' strips. He started to say after 4 cuts he was going to have to charge me per cut. I charmed him down to $3 extra to make roughly 35 cuts.:)
So this is what the walls looked like before the paneling.
J started nailing in the boards randomly on the wall that will be behind the vanity. We put a little bit of space in between each row.
Looking better already right? I then filled in all the holes(ugh) and painted it white.
J also made a window sill.
We had a ton of boards left over so I wanted to make a cornice above each of the closet doors. So I measured and cut them to size. Yes, I did. All by myself. Then, to add some real class to the project, I hot glued the pieces together.;) Then painted them white.
Yes, I did paint them on one the kids' box cars. Class, class, class. I was originally going to hang them by l-brackets using Gorilla glue and Command strips. The Gorilla glue did not dry and the command strips were too bulky. In short I hated it and was so frustrated. Then, throwing caution to the wind (I have to spice up this otherwise very boring story) I just riped off the side pieces and attached to panel to the wall with the Command strips.
Since we don't have closet doors I bought a shower curtain from West Elm and have it hanging on tension rods behind the panels.
So here is the room thus far.
The yellow table is in the spot where the tub will be going.
Still to do:
Caulk
Fill in the baseboards
Touch up paint
Refinish inside of tub(outside is done)
Install tub
Build vanity
Stain vanity
Install vanity
Install sink/faucets
Rehang mirrors
Install new medicine cabinet
Yikes! I am sure I am missing something but I am going to stop their before I get even more nauseous. Happy weekend! God bless the USA.
PS. I realize these pictures kind of stink but a.) I don't have the best camera and b.) it is hard to photograph a room this small with this many wierd angles.
