Repurposed fan

When I made the pendant light in my daughter's room I removed this fan.
We needed a fan in our family room but I didn't like the dingy white that it was.  I decided to spruce it up.  I removed the blades, making sure to clean off the caked on dust (yuck).

I then used tape and eyeballed a v-pattern down each blade.
It is hard to see because I used masking tape but I then cut out a chevron pattern with an exacto knife.  After that I used some gray spray paint (it is actually primer, but I like the color of the gray) and painted all the blades.
Once the paint had dried I removed the tape.
I then reattached the blades and J hung up the fan.
Now isn't that much better than just a plane white fan?  I don't like the lights on the fan but I haven't figured out how I want to change them yet.  When I do I will let you know.  And yes we did test it, it does not make you dizzy when it is turned on.:)

Since I hung this in our family room I thought I would give you a tour of that room as well.
The most striking thing in this room is without a doubt, the pictures my talented sister painted of my kids.  I L.O.V.E. them.

They are so special to me.  And yes, she can paint your kids too.  Check out her website here.
The lamps in the room are the two we made out of tripods.

The wicker bench in the corner holds the kids toys so I can put them out of site at the end of the day.
I love banners.  The banner on the fireplace is made out of map paper.  I love maps/globes too.  Win, win.
The mantle has an old scale that my husband had from the pharmacy.  Those calender blocks I made with craft paper, wooden blocks and mod podge.  My sister-in-law gave me these great cameras from her grandfathers old camera repair shop.  The green glass jars I have purchased over time at Ross or TJ Maxx.
So that is the room and the fan.  May God bless your week!
