So I have been debating painting my fireplace. Once you paint brick there is really no going back.
Here is what it looked like when we moved in.
Like I said, it is not for everyone to paint brick. That is why I was hesitating. Then I was looking at pictures of the room and it just didn't look right to me. My thought is you might as well live in a house the way you like it now rather than waiting because you might not like it in 10 years.
So I got to taping (my little helper was in charge of taping the glass;)).
I used the white semi-gloss trim paint that is in the rest of my house. I applied most of the paint with a small roller and then filled in the grout lines with a short bristled paint brush. It took 2 coats.
I am so glad I did it. The room is a small room and the white fireplace makes it feel bigger and fresher.
On a side note, the decorations were for my daughter's 3rd birthday but will be staying up for the month since they work for Valentines Day too. To make the top garland I sewed together 2 streamers, ruffling them up as I went. The bottom one is made by sewing together hearts cut out of paint chips. Super easy!
Happy weekend!
