Front yard

I have been finishing up a few projects on the kid's bedroom.  Here is just a little peek at what is going on in there.  It all started with this shower curtain:
kate spade Candy Shop Stripe 72" x 72" Fabric Shower Curtain
This is hanging over the closet.  I wanted to mimic those stripes in other places in the room so I made a pelmet box for the window.  Tutorial found here.  I had leftover white canvas fabric from my rocker project so I used that as the base.  I bought some ribbon at Walmart in coordinating colors and hot glued it on.
More to come on that room.
But in the meantime, we did quite a bit of work in our yard this weekend.  To preface, we used to have a huge mesquite tree in our front yard but we had to cut it down because it's roots were messing with the plumbing.  Roots in pipes = bathroom flooding in the middle of the night.  Not good.  So our front yard was very barren.  No trees.  Just a stump and bare rock.
A few months ago we put out our big pots and changed the numbers on our house.
That is how it remained until a couple of days ago. J went to Home Depot and got 2 trees and lumber to build planters.

He planted the trees (purple plum and another smaller evergreen tree (can't remember the name)).  He whipped out those planters like you would not believe.

Now all I have to do is get a few more flowers, water and wait for things to grow.  Did you have a good Memorial Day weekend too?
