Vintage Stools

In today's day and age if you call something 'vintage', then even if it is covered with rust and awful looking it somehow transforms into acceptable(dare I say, sought after) home decor.  Enter these stools.

The top stool I found at at an estate sale for $6 and the bottom one I saved from a junk pile headed to the dump.  It is hard to tell but the stools (especially the second one) had about 5 peeling layers of old paint.  J had some paint remover in the garage. I used a brush and 'lathered' it all over the stools.

This stuff is not a joke.  A little drop splattered on my leg.  Yowza!  It felt like fire ants stinging me.  Anyway, after about 30 minutes the paint started bubbling up.
I used a scraper and got off as much of the old paint as I could and then sprayed down the stools with water.  It was really hard to get all of the paint off so the chairs are a little bumpy.  First I spray painted them black as a sort of primer and then Chevy Orange.

I would not trust them to hold up a grown man but for 2 little kids to eat their Fruit Loops on in the morning, they are perfect.  Well, let's just say, they are vintage.;)
