Brass is Back

This antique brass ginger jar lamp in the perfect brass color in my opinion.  Not too shiny, not too bright.  I spotted this lamp at a yard sale down the street earlier this morning.  I walked down there at 11ish, knowing that they would be more willing to bargain the later it got.  The sticker said $17 so I asked if he would accept $10.  He hemmed and hawed and muttered something about the lamp shade (which, when you see it, he should not have brought up) and then accepted.
Here it is in all it's brassy glory.

See what I am saying about the shade?
So I cut off the curly bit with an Exacto knife.
It was not as clean as I would have hoped.  But I figured, I had nothing to lose.  I spray painted it white first.  Then taped off a chevron pattern.  My motto (after starting this blog I realize I have a lot of mottoes) : nothing looks bad with a chevron pattern on it.
I had leftover Chevy Orange so that is what I used.

The shade is pretty shoddy but it will work until another shade strikes my fancy.  This project is great because I didn't have to do a thing to the lamp itself.
