Fall Family Room

The Target dollar section is a wonderful thing.  I recommend checking it out at least once a week.  My fall decorations are just a sampling of the wonderful things you can find there (hmmm, maybe Target should be my first sponser;)).  Some people don't like to decorate for every season, which is perfectly fine.  Normal even.  For me, given my love for switching stuff up, the changing of seasons means a few fun projects.
So, after walking through Target I was motivated to decorate for fall.  (It was certainly not the weather.)  I found little clothespins, baker's twine and little birds (which were from the dollar section last spring) among other things.
This is what the room looked like pretty much all summer.
I liked the pear picture but it didn't have fall colors.  I had printed a number of my Instagram pictures a while back and wanted a place to display them.  Enter the baker's twine and mini clothespins.
I took the painting out and just used tacks to attach the twine.
On the mantel, I had two little birds from Target (one white, one blue). The blue bird got sprayed with some metallic gold spray paint I had on hand (see it over there on the left?).
For pillows I just switched out the blue ones that were previously on the couch for the orange ones that were on W's bed.  I had also purchased plaid fabric (with the intent of making a skirt (don't ask)) and used that to make a pillow.  I had some leftover so I threw it over the chair (I imagine it won't last long there since I didn't hem it and it will more than likely unravel everywhere).

I also switched my 'Lagoon' side table out with 2 vintage card catalogs I scored from a school auction.
I threw a few pumpkins around (well, I didn't really throw them) and fall is here!  High time for the weather to get on board.

Now go enjoy a Pumpkin Spice Latte (do you think Starbucks would sponsor me too?).
