New Lights and a Black Door

The dining room had a chandelier over the table.  However, since we positioned our table closer to the wall the chandelier was kind of hovering over nothing.  I decided to put a more unique light up so it was more like an any-where light instead of a light-that-is-supposed-to-be-over-a-dining-room-table light.  Does that make sense?  Well, it does to me.;)
World Market sells 3-'prong' pendant light kits.  I got the shades from West Elm ($9.99/shade, which I thought was a good deal).

In my entryway, there was a can light.  You can buy conversion kits at Home Depot that will make your can light work with a pendant.  I bought a single pendant lighting kit at World Market with this light in mind, which I bought at a yard sale for $5:

It came with a cord, as you can see, but it was one you plugged in.  I unscrewed that light and painted the shade red.  I installed it myself, thank you very much.  Not electrocuted.  Go me!

And as the title says, I jumped on the black door bandwagon.  Which can be a little scary.  Painting your door black?  What?  But I am very happy with it.  And for those with a keen eye, that is a tortoise shell on the wall.  Have you been to Target?  Nate Berkus?  Forget about it.  Love all of his stuff.
As you can see I have decorated for Christmas.  I will post about all those decorations later.
