Rolling Bin

I was tempted not to post about this project because it was a mess but here it is anyway.  It all started while perusing Pinterest (I can see my husband cringing because that is how most of my sentences start these days).  I saw this rolling cart from Urban Outfitters.

How hard could it be?  Make 3 boxes and add wheels.  No problem.  Oh, by the way, I did this whole project myself.  Again, no help from J.  Anyway, back to the mess.  The next morning I hauled all 3 of my kids to Home Depot and bought 3 1x6 pine boards.  During naptime I started building.  I started my 3 boxes and then realized how am I going to attach them?  I know, I had not thought it through.  My first mistake was not measuring the boards with a template board but just with a measuring tape, not taking into account the width of the saw blade and so on.  The long and short(long and short, get it?) of it was I had 3 different sized boxes.  But being the stubborn person I am I just went ahead and attached them with slats I had in my garage.  I stood back....awful.  It was all cockeyed with big slits and bent wood.  I said a few choice words and left to go scream into a pillow.
See how the wood isn't lined up at all, there on the left?  Awful.
After a few days, I took a hammer to it and started over.  I had to take every last nail out and recut all my wood.  But after that it went pretty smoothly.  As supports I used a piece of 2x2 cut 2 inches shorter than the height of the bin.  I put them in the 4 corners and nailed my boards to it.  I also nailed my boards to each other at all the joints.
The wheels?  My sister gave me those a while back.  I removed the wheels themselves from the hardware and spray painted them orange like my inspiration picture.  This thing it pretty big, about 20x30 inch.

I stenciled the word MISC. on it with a Sharpie before I stained to wood.
Once I figured it out the whole project took about an hour and a half.  J said he was impressed with my woodworking skills.  I think he has ulterior motives.;)
My bin cost about $25(it would be more if you had to purchase the casters) and UO's bin is $90 on sale, plus mine is much larger.  Was it worth it?  Well I learned something but it was VERY frustrating.  I might just buy the bin next time.
