The Kitchen

Before the pictures of the new kitchen I wanted to explain how you actually get into the house (in case you come visit us).  There is no door to the outside of the home.  The only entrance to the house is through the garage.  Let me show you.  First you drive up to the house and pull up to the front of the garage door.
Then you go around the left side of the building and there is one door.
When you go through that door you are in the garage and the door into the house is on your left.
Get it?
Now onto the kitchen.  Let's take a look back at what it was when we bought it.
Funkytown.  And now this is what that same wall looks like.
Okay.  Here are the details.
There is the door back into the garage.  The countertops are Ikea butcher block in Oak. The microwave is from Home Depot. It is amazing how much cheaper a white microwave is then a stainless steel microwave.
My husband installed under mount lights and a subway tile back splash.  I love under mount lights.  They add such a nice cozy feeling.
We had our contractor build this refrigerator surround.  I think it really adds a lot to making the kitchen look custom.  And it also adds a huge storage shelf above the refrigerator.
We still have to add the cabinet hardware(pulls and knobs).
We got the sink on clearance at Home Depot.  It is cast iron.  I purchased the faucet on eBay for $60.
The pendant light is a kit from World Market and the shade was $5 from a yard sale that I spray painted red.
Here is the other side of the room when we bought it.
And here it is with new laminate floors, painted walls, and new baseboards.
Who knew my dream kitchen was in a little house not 5 miles from our current house?:)
