Our Sole Bathroom

That's right.  This house has ONE bathroom.  I was a little concerned at first but it seems to be working out.  There have only been a few times when a little 4 year old has knocked on the door to go 'potty'.
Since this is a long narrow room it is kind of hard to take pictures so bear with me.
The cabinets came with the kitchen cabinets and are painted the same white as the kitchen cabinets.  We made the wood countertops the same way we made the ones in our old house.  We also bought the same square sinks as our previous bathrooms. I still love them.  They are from Overstock.com.  The faucets are oil rubbed bronze and I bought those on eBay.
The shower curtain is from West Elm.  It used to hang in our old bathroom.  The turtle shell was also from our old house (Target).
The round mirrors are from Ikea.  The center cabinet was in the bathroom when we bought it.  It was an oak color and had a door.  We took the door off and painted the whole unit white.
I got this old Coke bottle crate from a yard sale and use it for our toothbrushes and paste.

I bought this cart from Ikea.  With only one bathroom, storage is key so this will help corral some of those random things that don't seem to have a spot.
There is a pocket door to get into the bathroom.  J installed a handle on either side that makes it easier to open and close.  Also the hot water heater is right in that nook.  It is the first thing you see if you walk into the bathroom.  I put up this tension rod and shade temporarily.  Eventually, we want to build a shallow shelf on a hinge that will cover the whole opening and still swing open if we have to get to the water heater.
The lights are just basic one from Home Depot that I removed the shade from and added Edison bulbs.  It is not for everyone but I really like the industrial look.
Alright, a little before and after action.

Phew!  Much better.

PS.  I will be doing a complete source list (where I got everything and pricing) for both the kitchen and the bath in the next couple of weeks.

  1. No lie...I have that round mirror, I just found a vintage yellow coke crate which is on it's way and I've been looking for that same square sink. Great minds think alike!

  2. That is absolutely adorable decorating. A word to the wise from someone who grew up with those oscillating fans. They can take off fingers. If you are using it strictly as a decorative item; clip the cord.
