The Nursery

I call any room with a crib a nursery.  This is our 14 month old's room.  I went bold.  As in, I painted a wall BLACK(Onyx by Behr, color matched with Glidden paint, to be exact).  I was a little nervous because you hear black will make a room feel smaller and this room is already on the smallish side.  But I went for it.  Paint is easy to change, right?
See, not too shocking.  I think it also helped that I only painted one wall.  I really like how it turned out.
We hung up the book ledges from our previous house.  The yellow dresser used to be in our master bedroom but we no longer have room for 2 dressers in our new master bedroom.
The mirror is old. When I bought it was a bronze-y color and the center was a clock.  I painted it blue and then the clock broke.  So I replaced it with a mirror and painted it orange.  For this room, I put stickers on it and painted it white.  Now it is white with orange polka dots.  The fan is a garage sale find.
I have a confession to make.  Do you see how those sconces are slightly askew on either side of the dresser?  That is because I hung them.  With a drill.  By myself.  Which is something I have done(i.e. wielded a drill) maybe TWICE in my married life.  I know!  All this DIYing and I still don't know how to use a drill.  My husband always does that part.  Here I am telling you to get out there and DIY and have been DIVMH(Doing It Via My Husband).  But, I did hang these.  And it was awful.  We are talking 6 huge holes in the wall that I had to later patch and repaint, after screaming into a pillow(there are children around here).  And one of the lights is higher than the other.  Which, I am not sure if they are both not too high and I need to move them both down.  Anyway, I don't have the mental fortitude to change them right now.  Phew!  I feel much better getting that off my chest.  I think my advice in the future will be to find someone who will do all the drilling for you.:)
I didn't have to buy anything new for this room.  The Mr. Happy picture was actually I party favor bag that I cut up and framed.  The 'H' was a wood letter I picked up at Michael's and painted.  The chevron blanket is from Target.  The rug is from Walmart.  You can see my complete post on the rocking chair here.
I love kid's book covers.  Don't you?
I like that when you walk into the front door now you see this black wall.
